DIY mat/shiny polkadot nails

IMG_0044

I’ve been looking for a mat nail polish for a long time. But I couldn’t find any in my price range. So when I came across this idea to make your own mat nail polish using Corn Starch I definitely wanted to try it. And it worked!

What you’ll be using:

  • Black nail polish
  • A shiny topcoat
  • Corn starch
  • A dotting tool
  • Something to put your nail polish on

Start by painting your nails black. It would be best to add a shiny topcoat so your nails look extra shiny, but without it it will work just as fine.

Put a bulb of nail polish on a surface and add cornstarch. You don’t have to add a lot, if you do too much it will crumble.

Take a dotting tool, or if you don’t have one improvise. I used a pin and the end of a pencil to make mine. Put the dotting tool into the matt nail polish and start making dots to your nails.

I hope you try this nail tutorial and be sure to check back later for lots of other DIYs.
