DIY denim patches bag

Almost everyone owns a bag like this. It is a plain colour with an advertisement on it, you probably even got it for free. I wanted to make this bag more special, and to be honest, I think I achieved.

What you’ll need:

  • A plain bag, If you don’t have one I think it won’t be very difficult to make one yourself
  • Scraps of fabric
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard
  • A sewing machine
  • Pins
  • A zipper

This is the bag I used, it had an advertisement on the back and was plain in the front.

Take out all the scraps of fabric you own. You can do scraps from one colour or material, or go crazy and just use all the fabric scraps you own.

Cut out a square piece from the cardboard. Use this as a template to make all the squares about the same size.

When you’re done cutting it should look like this. I used 25 pieces.

Lay them on your bag and move them around until you like what you see.

Pin it down to the bag with some pins.

And start sewing!

I only sewed vertical lines, but you can also only do horizontal lines or both.

Pin the zipper down to the opening of your bag.

Sew along the edge and your bag is done!
