How to turn any type of jeans into skinny jeans

DIY skinny jeans1

When I found these jeans in Primark a little while ago, I fell in love with them. I really liked the print and of course they were not very expensive since they came from Primark. The only thing I did not really like was the fit. So I decided to turn these jeans into skinny jeans. You can use this technique to turn any sort of jeans into skinny jeans. It is very easy and does not take a lot of time. So let’s get started!

  • A sewing machine
  • Pins
  • A pair of scissors

Your jeans have two seams. There is a simple seam you can easily make yourself and there is a ‘fancy’ seam. To change the fit of you jeans, it is easiest to use the simple seam. For my jeans, the simple seam was the outside seam.

Step 1.
Turn your jeans inside out and put them on. This will look a little funny.

Step 2.
Pin along the shape of your leg. Do make sure you can still move, especially with your knees. Also make sure your feet can still go through the bottom of your jeans

Step 3.
Take your jeans off and add a straight stitch along the pins. Do this while the jeans are still turned inside out.

Step 4.
Add another straight stitch next to the first one. leave about half a centimeter in between.

Step 5.
Next to the most outer seam, add a zigzag stitch.

Step 6.
Now simply cut outside the zigzag stitch and you are done!
